Our Sustainability Vision

“To travel is to live.” – Hans Christian Andersen

Travel fosters human connections by allowing us to immerse ourselves in diverse cultures, cuisines, music, religions, and everyday lives around the globe. This experiential learning goes beyond what the internet can offer.

At Navarino, we understand and harness the power of travel responsibly. We are committed to supporting social and environmental initiatives that extend beyond mere profit-making. Our goal is to positively impact our clients and the world we inhabit, working to enhance and safeguard our exceptional planet.

We collaborate responsibly and respectfully, both within Navarino and with our clients and partners. We are dedicated to fairness and equality, striving to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance reuse and recycling efforts, minimize over-consumption, and improve diversity within our company. We are also exploring decentralisation and other sustainability targets.

Business Operations

Flexible Work Arrangements

As of 2021, we have implemented a flexible office-home working rota, with mandatory office days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Business Travel

Video Conferencing: We advocate for video conferencing for both internal meetings and client interactions, accommodating clients’ preferred IT platforms to ensure ease of use.

Transportation: For domestic meetings, we recommend rail options and approve air travel for international business trips. Company cars are required to be either hybrid or electric. We have installed an electric car charging station at our Head Office.

Accommodation: We partner with Sabre Hospitality Solutions to promote hotels certified under Sabre’s Eco-Certified Hotel Program, which aligns with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s criteria.

Hired Vehicles: We prefer electric taxis in urban areas whenever possible.

Office Equipment and Infrastructure

Digital Transition: In 2022, we migrated to Microsoft 365 Cloud, moving towards cloud-based resources to reduce energy consumption.

End-of-Life Strategy: We are reviewing our strategy for office equipment end-of-life to enhance energy efficiency. Our current equipment life cycle is as follows:

Monitors, Printers, Scanners: 5 years

Desktops: 4 years

Laptops and Mobile Phones: 3 years

Recycling: IT waste is recycled responsibly via an approved contractor.

Head Office Initiatives

Lighting: We have upgraded to LED lighting to increase energy efficiency.

Solar Panels: Solar panels have been installed on the south-facing roof of our Head Office, with an annual maintenance program to optimize performance.

Office Materials: We advocate for a paperless environment and a clean desk policy. Double-sided printing is encouraged, with double-sided printers installed.

Waste Management: We adhere to the three ‘R’s strategy: reduce, reuse, and recycle. We minimize waste, find new uses for items, and recycle paper, plastics, glass, printer cartridges, and batteries.

Cleaning Materials: We are transitioning to biological, eco-friendly cleaning products and have eliminated disposable cups.

Water Consumption: Our hybrid work model has reduced water use at the Head Office. Dishwashers are run only when full.

Data Protection

Cyber Security: We are PCI compliant and have achieved Cyber Essentials Plus certification as of September 2022. We also hold IASME Gold certification, a UK government-supported standard that includes GDPR compliance. This certification ensures robust cyber security practices, covering risk management, monitoring, change management, and incident response.

Human Resource Policies and Best Practices

Equal Opportunity: We adhere to national regulations and do not discriminate based on gender, disability, age, race, religion, or sexual orientation. We support equal treatment and maintain a respectful, harassment-free environment.

Employee Support: We offer an Employee Assistance Program, counselling, pensions advice, health and safety training, and First Aid training. A defibrillator is available at our Head Office.

Employment Policies: We ensure all employees receive a living wage, formal contracts, and adhere to a Code of Conduct. Hiring processes are managed by department heads with external HR support.
